what's all this about then?

A few weeks ago a small number of young people in Gloucester decided to get together and pray.

This doesn't actually sound all that amazing. But we're excited.

Small groups of around 3-5 friends are getting together every week to go through a simple leaflet - with a few questions on how they're doing loving God and other people.

Why?

The hope is that through time, these small groups might cheer each other on in their walk with God, and see their prayers answered, for others to be impacted with God's love and life.

This isn't a project to join, but you can join in. The questions are linked on the right - and if you'd like to get to know us a bit and let us know if you'd like to start a group - you can email us and we can send you the leaflet to help out.

On this website will be stories of (hopefully) answered prayers (!), other ideas for your times together, stuff to pray for and other stuff you can get involved in - helping us be the answers to our prayers, that God's kingdom would come on earth as in heaven.

background info...for those interested...

24-7 Prayer is a worldwide movement of 'mission-minded' prayer. You can read more of the amazing things God is doing with them by visiting the website here.

Part of the movement, are small missional communities known as Boiler Rooms. These Boiler Rooms are kind of like new forms of monastic traditions - combining prayer and practice and a Christ-devoted and Christ-centred life lived out in community with others.

One of these Boiler Rooms is in Kansas City, USA. Their community meets in a variety of ways. One way they do this is through small 'D Groups', that are made up of two or three people to help people pray for each other and be accountable to each other. They go through a simple framework of questions (see more here).

It's a few of these questions that have inspired us to encourage small groups of people to get together regularly to help each other to pray - to have lives impacted by God so that they too may 'go' and impact the world around them with His love.

This excited a small group of people in Gloucester, UK who are part of a small 24-7 prayer community and also help a group called 're:fresh' to nurture and encourage a sense of communion and unity across the city's youth. We hope that these small groups - in neighbourhoods, schools, wherever - may help bridge the gap between the barriers so often experienced by young people within the various congregations of our city. But we'd also love others to join in with this little experiment. So if this excites you too, we'd love to hear from you!
